Coughing - causes and symptoms
Coughing is a reflex action that keeps airways and lungs clear of dust and mucus. There is a short intake of breath, when a man coughs. To understand the nature of your cough and its cure, it is necessary to find out what is its type —Whether it is a dry, a wet or a phlegm-producing cough. If it occurs with other symptoms, a chest infection could be the cause. Chest infections often follow a cold.
Causes of cough.
Here are the causes that can trigger coughing:
- The frequent cause of an acute cough is common cold. It usually takes three weeks to settle completely.
- Drawing anything into the breathing passage from your mouth can cause coughing.
- Smoking can also be one reason that triggers coughing.
- 12-hour cough can be triggered due to psychological illness.
- When the stomach acid comes to the esophagus, leading over to the windpipe, coughing arises.
- Asthma can cause coughing.

Symptoms of coughing
Following are the common symptoms of coughing:
· A persistent cough—with or without phlegm
· A dry, hacking cough which turns chesty after a day or two
· Rapid breathing that may be wheezy
· A fever
· Coughing shows the sign of loss of interest in food following with sudden weight loss.
· Chest pain
· Coughing results in hoarse or raucous voice.
The best way to prevent from coughing is to stay away from the person already having it. Also, let this treat by its own instead of taking any medication.
