Online gambling
Have you ever gambled online? I have and had to stop because it’s so addictive, I’d end up losing everything I own! It started out when I saw an online ad for a bingo site; deposit £10 and they give you another £10 free. Yippee I thought, so off I went with my virtual bingo marker pen in my hand.
As it happens, once I’d registered and deposited my £10, I didn’t end up playing bingo at all. They had all sorts of other modus operandi to extract money from ridiculously compulsive visitors. They had online slot machines and my all time favourite thing - blackjack.
I love the game, both in the real world and in the not so real world, so I played for hours. I was doing really well too; I’d won £40 on top of my £10 and free £10, so I was really pleased with myself. After each game, I resolved I’d stop while I was winning… and I really, really meant it. Get out with a profit I said to myself.
Three hours later, I had lost all my previous winnings, my deposit and my free £10… so I added another £20. Two hours later, that was gone too. Fortunately, I learned my lesson then and stopped playing. I’ve never played online again for real money, but I do play with pretend money. It’s not the same though but at least I don’t lose actual cash.
